Sails on fire at Rompin, Day 2
June 3rd, 2009 | By Rowan Stanek

“Our first day fishing Kuala Rompin was mind-blowing, and the second day was no less incredible!

I’ve never seen so many sailfish crusing the surface, with fins out of the water feeding. It’s best described as the sailfish version of tuna boils. There were free jumping sails wherever you look; it was spectacular. The downside of this frenzy were that the sails were again very focused on what they were feeding on (anchovies) so were a little finicky with the skip baits, lures and poppers presented to them.

Again our boat had about 30 or so bites, with 16 hook ups for 4 fish, which was not a great strike rate. Our second team had very similar day, finishing with 4 fish again, and losing count of the numbers lost. All in all it is fantastic fishing, an experience you’ll never find in other destinations.

Looking forward to the next few days!!!

Anthony”
Rompin Day 2

Conditions look amazing, typical of this area throughout sailfish season. Lets hope they get into a few more fish over the next couple of days!
