Hey Anthony, found any sails yet?
Anthony Pisano
8:52 AM
Mate, it’s mind blowing! There are literally thousands working the surface.
8:53 AM
They’re a bit difficult to catch though, they’re totally focused on what they’re feeding on at the moment.
David Noble
8:53 AM
Wow, match the hatch, what a fishery!
Anthony Pisano
8:53 AM
Yesterday our boat got 20 bites, 10 hookups and 4 fish landed, all skip baiting.
8:54 AM
Hopefully we’ll have them a little better wired for today.
David Noble
8:54 AM
Day 1, that’s not bad! You must be getting excited for more. Top stuff, I’m stoked for you. Any on poppers yet?
Anthony Pisano
8:54 AM
The other guys got the same, 4 fish landed and lost heaps.
8:55 AM
Popper fishing is hard going for them. They smash them, but it’s very hard to get a solid hook up.
David Noble
8:55 AM
Must be a hoot being surrounded by that many fish! Do you reckon fly gear would work? I suppose most things would if you could hook up…
Anthony Pisano
8:56 AM
Yeah, they’re everywhere. Rob got a take right at the boat, but it jumped and spat the hook.
8:56 AM
Yeah, this is definitely the place for fly. You don’t need to tease them to the boat, because they’re just everywhere. You could just cast into the school!
David Noble
8:56 AM
Are you fishing or filming?
Anthony Pisano
8:56 AM
Trying to do both. Dan got three while I was filming, I fished when the camera battery ran out!
8:57 AM
I got one nice one and lost 4-5, mostly due to pulled hooks
David Noble
8:57 AM
That’s awesome!
Anthony Pisano
8:58 AM
Yeah, it’s really impressive.
David Noble
8:58 AM
Not bad for early season fishing…
Anthony Pisano
8:58 AM
Yeah, they’re a bit finicky though.
8:59 AM
Rob reckons they’re far more aggressive as the season continues.
8:59 AM
But this is still pretty good!
David Noble
9:00 AM
No worries, good luck today.
Anthony Pisano
9:00 AM
Cheers, I’ll give you another report after today’s fishing

Not too bad for the first day’s fishing, especially considering it’s currently the ‘low season’! Looks like we’ll have a new video up in the coming weeks so make sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to know when it’s been uploaded.
Don’t forget that Ocean Blue is organising a second scheduled trip to Rompin in September, during peak sailfish season…
